passport control...

Went to get a new passport today as the old one would have expired during my contract and have just sent it off so the VISA process can begin. My appointment was actually tomorrow, but I'd been told Wednesday and I was allowed in. I think the guy at the counter realised I wasn't going to budge and as it was just a renewal anyway...

I then had lunch with Rad which disagreed with me in a most uncomical American Pie fashion by the time I got to Leicester Square to meet up with Gem. Gem was waiting on the 'Hangover 3' premier to get autographs but it was really nice to catch up with her as I haven't seen her since November last year. I also needed to have a few small 'squee'* moments over 'Fast and Furious 6' (Han's character in particular). F&F franchise is cinema chocolate to me. Much as I like my Subtitled wonders from round the world I do love that nonsense. Gem had seen them filming in London and said Sung Kang was a really nice guy.

After going to collect my passport i dropped in to Hotel Chocolat for some alcoholic truffles and despite my better judgement bought the mojito ones. I don't like the drink, so why I thought a chocolate version would be any good I don't know. Nights that started with mojitos have never ended well.

*yes, i know this is not a grown-up word but the whole idea of 'squee' is not very grownup either ;)

The Countdown is not ready to begin!

So, I go to get my passport updated on Wednesday so I can photo and send to the relocation department. The picture I had taken today looks better than the one I took on Sunday, but I look like a criminal and I am debating sending them a pic of me smiling to show I am not scary at all. The Visa process will then begin and I am still waiting for the paper contract to arrive so I can send and return.

When to start telling people is the next big thing. So many of my friends have been made redundant lately and with jobs a little thin on the ground I don't want them to feel I'm boasting. I still have a lot to do before I go including going to the dentist.

The enormity of what is to come hasn't sunk in yet really. I probably won't until I set foot in Wellington.
